Colophon

The name comes from the old story, not the cartoon. A wolf visits three houses. Straw goes down, sticks go down, and at the brick house he huffs and puffs and gets nowhere, tries the chimney, and gets nowhere with that either. The story is not really about the wolf. It is about which of the three did the boring, expensive work before anything came for them.

Money has the same three houses. Straw is a balance on an exchange. Sticks is an app that assures you your funds are safe. Brick is a key that only you hold, which takes longer to build and is worth the difference on exactly one day.

So this is the brick one. Big Bad is what you get called by whoever is outside doing the huffing: the exchange that would rather hold it for you, the bank that would rather you did not, anyone who needs your money to stay where they can reach it. Bad for them. The library on this site exists because a brick house is only as good as whoever built it, and nobody is born knowing how.

Set in a serif for the headlines, a grotesque for the reading, and a monospace for anything you might have to count.
